দায়ী আমিই...

গতকাল খুব স্টেক খেতে ইচ্ছা করছিল। হাতে সময় ছিল। বাজার হল, রান্না হল, খাওয়াও হল। আর একটা বিপদ হল। তেল! রান্নায় তেল বেশি পরে গেছে। কি আর করার। কিচেন পেপার এ মুছে নীল ময়লার ব্যাগে ফেলে দিলাম। দেশে থাকলে নিশ্চয়ই সিঙ্ক এ ফেলে দিতাম দ্বিতীয় বার চিন্তা না করে। জাপানে করলে খবর আছে। সিঙ্ক এ তেল ফেললে পরের দিন সরকারের লোক হাজীর হয়ে যায়। এই জন্য বোধয় এদের ড্রেন আটকায় না।

জাপান এ আসার পর পর ওয়ার্ড অফিস এ যাওয়া লাগে। প্রায় ২ ঘণ্টা ধরে নানা ফরম ফিলআপ করা লাগে। এর মধ্যে এরা একটা বই ধরায় দেয়। "কিভাবে ময়লা ফেলতে হয়"। মজা নেয় নাকি আমার সাথে? বেশির ভাগ কাগজপত্র জাপানিজ এ হলেও, এ বই ছিল ইংরেজিতে। প্রায় তিন বছর হয়ে গেল জাপানে থাকা। এখনও মাঝে মধ্যে বইটা দেখা লাগে।

জাপানে আবর্জনা ৪ প্রকারের। ১) পচনশীল / জৈবিক ২) প্লাস্টিক ৩) PET বোতল ৪) কাচের বোতল / ক্যান । প্রত্যেক প্রকার আবর্জনার জন্য আলাদা রং এর ব্যাগ। সেগুলা আবার টাকা দিয়ে কেনা লাগে। ময়লা ফেলার আগে ঠিক ভাবে ভাগ করে আলাদা আলাদা ব্যাগে রাখতে হবে। তাও শান্তি নাই। সেই ব্যাগ আবার মনের ইচ্ছা মত যেখানে খুশি ফেলে যাবে না। নির্ধারিত দিনে, নির্ধারিত যায়গায় ফেলতে হবে। ভুলে গেলে আবার পরের সপ্তাহ পর্যন্ত অপেক্ষা। কি ঝামেলারে বাবা।

ঝামেলা হলেও একটা শান্তি আছে। কনফারেন্স এর জন্য যখন জাপান এর বাইরে যাই, তখন বুঝতে পারি। জাপানীদের রিসাইক্লিন টেকনোলজি খুব উন্নত। মানলাম প্রত্যেক সপ্তাহে আমার ২টা মিনিট সময় বেশি লাগে, ৩ টা ব্যাগ ঠিক ঠাক মত তৈরি করতে। কিন্তু দিন শেষে বাসায় ফিরার সময় কন কালো ধুয়া খাই না। বৃষ্টি বেশি হলে রাস্তা ডুবে ঠিকই, তবে ময়লার কারনে ড্রেন আটকায় না। আটকালেও সমস্যা নাই। নদীর পানির মত। একটু ঘোলা আরকি।

ভাবছি এবার ছুটিতে দেশে ফিরে স্টেক রান্না করে বাসায় সবাই মিলে খাবো। তেল বেশি হলে সমস্যা নাই। সিঙ্ক এ ফেললেই হবে। দেশেতো আর লাল, নীল, বেগুনি ব্যাগ এর মাথা ব্যাথা নাই। যাক বাবা। আমার ২টা মিনিট বাঁচল।

As of writing this article, the price of Bitcoin is something $6000+. The support is holding still now. Lot of indicators will tell you to buy them right now. Most probably I’ll buy some within the week. But before you do so, I want to remind you few things.

Global Market Cap:

I’ve seen the bitcoin chart to react heavily to Global Crypto Market Cap. The market cap is now something like $190 B. This is the lowest in last 11 months. This doesn’t indicate a good news.

Pump and Dump:

I’m no expert, but I feel BTC has been the victiim of Pump and Dump after institutional players joined the market.

FOMO:

Just a reminder, don’t surrender to it.

Conclusion:

I’m not going to tell you why you should buy BTC now, because there are articles already doing so. I just need you to keep these 3 points in mind.

Rule of law. Top priority for Bangladesh, in my opinion.

We have tons of problems, complains. True. Some can be tolerated. Traffic jam for instance. You can always get an Uber and keep working / reading in the back seats. 3 hours is a long time. Better use this time for something.

Overcrowded neighbourhood. Maybe can save and share. Over time, I think it’ll go away.

Low income. Expense is not that high. Yet. One can still survive.

Health insurance and quality healthcare. As my parents grow older, I find this critical. I absolutely love the Japanese healthcare system. Visit to doctors are expensive, no doubt. But 70% of the fee will be refunded by the government. In return, I have to pay a small premium each month. Mandatory health checkup every year. Well regulated dispensary. I wish my parents had the same benefits now. They need this more than I do.

Absence of a good healthcare system is sad. But, absence of rule of law in infuriating. Absence of rule of law forces you to be violent. Forces you to be the bad guy, the good guy, the law, the judge. Every person has their own interpretation of good and evil. Even if ‘everyone’ is the ‘good guy’, chaos is sure to follow. Violence is just as predictable. How do you be productive when you have no law watching your back? How do you focus on your job where you do not feel safe?

What can YOU do to make your country a developed nation?

You can't do anything.



Really. YOU can't do anything. Neither can I. Neither that person wearing a jacket across the room. Not as an individual. TOGETHER, however, that's a different story.
Few years back. I used to think that America is a good country because it has big buildings. (Later on I came to know they are called skyscrapper.) I though Japan is a good country because it has great electronics industry. I've been living in Japan for more that 2 years now. Now I see that this isn't really the case.

What makes these countries "developed" isn't the skyscrapers, nor the smooth road. Its the PEOPLE. Really man. Its the old lady by the road, the shopkeeper dusting his carpets. It is them. Not as a singular entity, but as collective nation.


The park bench scene in the movie "Men in Black" is one of my favorite. I couldn't grasp the meaning of the dialog until many years later.

Agent K (Tommy L. Jones) says, "The person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals and you know it.) I see his point now.

Take the latest BitCoin fiasco for example. So many 'experts' yet the market swings like a circus pole.


We really need to start focusing on the collective well being. The whole nation will move forward when everyone will understand instinctively what action(s) will bring betterment for the larger group. And "instinct" it doesn't develop in a day. It takes years of practice and preaching. So the sooner we start, the better.

My review of "Passenger"

Passenger. I was skeptical of this movie at first. We are very skeptical of any movie which relates to space. A bit of professional bad habit you can say. But my god it was beautiful. Just the right amount of science with some fiction. Kudos to the writer for coming up with such a beautiful storyline. It's one of those stories where it keeps you thinking even when the movie is over. Like the fabulous pastry that leaves a good flavour.

It's fascinating to think, how man fails to his value of ethics and morals at critical hours.How survival instinct redefines us. How we fail to suppress our inner demons. How we decide whether to let a severe crime go unnoticed or take action against it.

I also loved how subtly writer brought out mankind's greatest weakness, our lust for more. We never seem to settle. It's good in one sense that it keeps us on the edge, keeps us going, thriving for more. On the other hand, it never really let us have peace of mind. We remain so busy gazing into the distance future that we completely miss our present. We haven't really managed to live the moment yet.

How the future is changing us. Our need for more performance, forces us to ignore the beauty of mechanics; mechanics of the machines around us. Our need for a better life, enabling companies to profit out of nothing.

Truly a brilliant piece of story telling. In the end it is upto you which message you want to take with yourself.

I used to pray to God, that I wanna be somebody who will make a significant contribution to science and I want to work in a big Lab in some corner of the world. Although I haven't been awarded Nobel Prize or anything, I kind of made it. It is not as awesome as I dreamt, but the important bits are there. I wanted be a big scientist that people would remember my name. I could not get my name on children text books, but I did manage to get a picture of me on the newspapers. I rent a beautiful studio apartment overlooking Mountains in a peaceful neighbourhood. Since I'm already here, I realize I forgot to make some other wishes.
